Checkout in Settings decides what buyers are asked when they pay. Press Save changes after changing anything. The wording of the box buyers tick for downloads is explained in Downloads and changing their mind.
Guest checkoutLink to Guest checkout
In your back office: CheckoutWith Guest checkout on, anyone can buy without an account, and they can make one afterwards to keep their downloads together. Switched off, buyers have to sign in or make an account first.
With Gift options on, checkout asks Is it a gift?. Buyers can add a message, and for downloads, the recipient’s email and a day to send it. A posted gift’s packing slip has no prices, and the buyer can choose to email the recipient a short note when it’s posted. Gift orders shows what you see.
With Order notes on, checkout has a box called Anything we should know?. What buyers write shows on the order, in the Customer panel.

In your back office: CheckoutUnder More options, Ask for a phone number makes the phone number required at checkout. Switched off, it’s optional. Couriers sometimes need one for tracked parcels.
Holding stock while someone paysLink to Holding stock while someone pays
In your back office: CheckoutWhen someone starts paying, their items are set aside so nobody else can buy the last one. Hold items for sets how long, between 5 and 180 minutes, and 30 is a good middle ground. If they don’t finish in time, the items go back on sale and the order shows under Cancelled as a checkout that ran out.

In your back office: CheckoutUnder More options, Terms page is the page checkout links to. Your shop started with a Terms of sale page in Pages: read it and change anything that isn’t true for you. If the page you pick is a draft, buyers would get “page not found”, so publish it first.
