Taking a break: holiday mode

Tell buyers you’re away, and keep taking orders or pause them until you’re back.

Going on holiday, to a big fair, or just need a rest? Switch on Holiday mode and your shop shows a short note along the top of every page while you’re away.

  1. Step 1: Switch on Holiday mode.
  2. Step 2: Under While you’re away, choose Keep taking orders or Pause orders.
  3. Step 3: Pick The day you’re back. Holiday mode switches itself off that morning.
  4. Step 4: Write a Note to buyers if you like, or leave it blank for the wording in the preview, then press Save changes.

Holiday mode doesn’t hide your products or change their stock, so nothing needs putting back afterwards.

Buyers can still order. The break is added to your Days away in When orders go out, so product pages and checkout promise posting dates from the day you’re back. It comes off again when you switch holiday mode off. With this choice, The day you’re back is needed, so buyers are given the right dates.

Buyers can still look around and save things, but checkout says orders are paused and when they open again, in your shop and on the Handsold marketplace. Orders placed before you switched it on are still yours to send. If you pick The day you’re back, the break goes in your days away too, so orders still to send show the right dates. Leave it blank to keep orders paused until you switch holiday mode off.

While holiday mode is on, a note runs along the top of every page of your shop: your Note to buyers, up to 200 characters, or the wording in the preview if you leave it blank, which says when you’re back. Along the top of your shop shows exactly how it will look.

On The day you’re back, your shop takes orders as usual from the morning, and its days away come off. The screen then says holiday mode has ended: switch it off, or pick a new day you’re back. Holiday mode can run for a year at most. To come back early, just switch it off.
