The back office is where you run your shop. Here’s what’s where, and a few shortcuts that save time once you know them.
The dashboard and what needs youLink to The dashboard and what needs you
In your back office: DashboardYour dashboard opens with a line on your day, then Needs you, the things worth doing first:
- To post: orders still to send, soonest first, each with its post-by date. Overdue, Post today and Tomorrow stand out. Press one to open it, or see them all on the studio board.
- Waiting on you: reviews to publish and questions to answer.
- Keep an eye on: things running low or sold out, emails that didn’t send this week, and drops going live soon.
When there’s nothing to do it says All caught up. Below it are your shop’s numbers, Latest orders and Recent activity.
What you see follows your role. Someone with the staff role sees what needs making and posting, but not the money or the activity.
The menuLink to The menu
The menu groups everything into Overview, Sell, People, Marketing, Content and Store. On a phone it folds away behind the menu button, and the top of the screen says where you are.
View shop, at the top, opens your shop in a new tab, as buyers see it. You only see the parts of the back office your role opens.
Search or jump toLink to Search or jump to
Press the search box at the top of every page, or Ctrl K (Cmd K on a Mac). Type an order number, a product, a customer’s name or email, or the name of a page or setting, then press Enter on the one you want.

The search box also has a Create group: New product, New discount, New campaign, New journal post and Invite someone to the team. Type a few letters, like “new disc”, and press Enter. You only see the ones your role can do.

Press your initials at the top right, then choose Auto, Light or Dark under Appearance. Auto follows your device’s own setting. It’s remembered on this device, and your shop isn’t changed.
Add to your phoneLink to Add to your phone
Press your initials at the top right, then Add to your phone. Some browsers add it in one press; otherwise it shows the steps for an iPhone or an Android phone. It opens on your back office with its own icon. The first time, you may need to sign in again.
Help when you need itLink to Help when you need it
In your back office: HelpHelp, in the menu under your initials, has every guide, with a search. On many screens a small question mark sits beside a heading or button: press it for a one-line answer and an example, and Read the guide for more. How this works at the top of a page goes to its guide.
When the terms for sellers changeLink to When the terms for sellers change
When Handsold’s terms for sellers change, a notice at the top of the back office says what’s new. Press Read the terms to open them in a new tab, then I agree to the terms. The notice goes once you’ve agreed.
