Colours, fonts, words and more choices

Make any template your own: colours, fonts and shapes, every word buyers see, and what the header, footer, product pages and cards show.

Your template gives your shop its look. These choices let you change parts of it, all in Design. Each starts as your template draws it, so nothing changes until you pick something, and every change goes into your draft until you press Publish.

These choices are new, and are reaching a few shops at a time. Each part of this guide is only there once it’s switched on for your shop, so if you can’t see one yet, your shop doesn’t have it yet.

In Design, choose Template at the top of the panel. Across your shop is the first box. Its choices stay the same when you try another template.

  • Background, Words and Buttons and links: your shop’s own colours. Start from one of the palettes that suit your template, then change any colour. Words on buttons turn light or dark by themselves, so they’re always easy to read.
  • Fonts: a few pairings that suit your template, each shown in its own lettering.
  • Corners: As designed, Square, Soft or Round, for buttons, boxes, fields and product cards.

Photos, in Across your shop, is Fill the frame to start with. Filling the frame can cut off the edges of a photo, like words along the top of a poster. Whole photo shows all of every product and section photo, on a plain backdrop, in every template.

In Den, Squiggles and doodles turns off the wavy lines under links and headings and the little stars and swirls round the page. Links then have a plain underline.

Under More options in Across your shop:

  • Buttons: Filled, or Outline drawn as a line in your button colour. Button shape is As designed, Pill or Square.
  • Spacing: Snug, Normal or Roomy room between the sections of a page.
  • Product pictures: Tall, Square or Wide photos on product cards, wherever products are listed.
  • Section colours, in Den and Market: the set of colours its stickers, panels and blocks take turns in.
  • Announcement bar: its colour. Its words turn light or dark to stay readable. The messages themselves are in the announcement bar settings.
  • Light or dark: how your shop first looks. Buyers can still switch with the sun and moon button.

Choose Words at the top of the panel, beside Template. Every word buyers see is there, grouped by where it shows: the header, the footer, product cards, the product page, the basket and more. Find a word searches them all.

Each word shows how your template says it until you change it. Reset puts it back. Dates, prices and the promises from your settings are always filled in for you, so they stay right.

Click Header at the top of the sections list. How it looks has:

  • Logo size and Logo position (Left or Centre), and Shop name beside your logo.
  • Icons in the header: Search, Saved and Account. The basket always shows.
  • Keep the header in view: on, it stays at the top as buyers scroll. Off, it scrolls away with the page.
  • Under More options, The Shop menu shows: Categories, Collections and Quick links like New in.

Choose Product pages from the page list at the top, then click Product details. Parts of the page lists what sits under the photos and buy box, top to bottom: Description and details, Reviews, Questions, You might also like and Recently viewed. Drag one to move it, or press the eye to hide it.

Delivery and returns can be hidden from the buy box. Under More options are Small photos (beside or under the big photo), How many in “You might also like” and Collections and tags beside the description.

Under Template, Product cards sits below Across your shop. Each choice is on or off: Stickers like New and Sale (Sold out always shows), Star rating, Quick add button, Save heart and Second photo on hover.

Some sections have extra layout choices under More options, like How many reviews, Answers that start open in Questions, an even grid of photos with Layout and Photos across, a Slim size for a newsletter sign-up, and showing or hiding parts like your rating.

Sections with pictures, like Big welcome, Picture and words and Offer banner, have Picture size (Small, Medium or Large) and, where it can move, which side the picture sits on. Medium and the usual side are how the section always looked. On a phone, pictures sit above or below the words.
