The Media library keeps every image you upload, from products, pages, posts and settings, ready to use again.
Adding imagesLink to Adding images
Drag images anywhere onto the page, or press Choose images. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or GIF, up to 20 MB each. You can add lots at once, and each shows its progress.
They go into the folder in Folder beside the button, which starts as the folder you’re looking at.
Finding thingsLink to Finding things
Search looks through file names and descriptions. Once you have videos, Everything, Images and Videos switch between them.
Click any picture to open its details.
FoldersLink to Folders
The folders run along the top, with how many are in each. Pick a Folder before uploading, or change one in an image’s details and press Save details.
Moving an image to another folder doesn’t change its link, so nothing using it breaks.
Describing your imagesLink to Describing your images
Description (alt text), in an image’s details, says what’s in the picture, like “A hand-painted mug on a wooden shelf”. People using screen readers hear it, and search engines read it.
Images without one are marked No description. When some on the page have none, Describe them lets you write them all at once, then Save descriptions.
With AI help on, Describe them for me suggests descriptions for up to eight of your newest images. Check and change them before you save.

Where it’s used, in an image’s details, lists the products, pages, posts, sections and settings that show it.
An image that’s in use can’t be deleted, so nothing is left with a broken picture: take it out of those places first. Past orders keep the photos buyers saw, for as long as the orders do. An image used nowhere can be deleted for good, which frees up its space.
VideosLink to Videos
Videos go in through a Video section in the design editor, not here. Once uploaded, they show in the library with their size and length, and you can use one again in another Video section.
Using an image againLink to Using an image again
Wherever you add an image, like a post’s cover, a collection or your logo, Choose from library opens your library to pick one. Anything you upload there lands in the library too.
How much you’re keepingLink to How much you’re keeping
The top of the library says how many images and videos you have and how much space they take, with your download files counted too if you sell instant downloads. Every image’s details show its size.
Deleting things you don’t use, like old test photos, keeps your library tidy.
